Our Post Carbon Logistics Team

Andrew Willner

Founder/Executive Director

Andrew is The Executive Director of The Center for Post Carbon Logistics. From 2008 to 2014 was the Principal Professional Consultant for energy, transportation, and the environment at the Hugo Neu Corporation. He has been a leader, organizer, and advocate for the New York/New Jersey Bioregion for more than four decades. He was an early proponent of the Waterkeeper model of water and habitat protection as the founder of NY/NJ Baykeeper.

Amanda Monges

Director of Operations

Amanda attended SUNY New Paltz and earned a BA in Anthropology and an MS in TESOL. She has lived in the Hudson Valley since 2014. While her sailing experience is limited, her belief in a sustainable and equitable future is vast.

Steven Woods

Director of Research and Development

Steven Woods started his career working in museums, transitioning into the Sustainability field in 2020. He earned a Masters Degree in Resilient and Sustainable Communities from Prescott College, writing his thesis on what it would take to feed New York entirely by sail as an adaptation to climate change. He has since worked extensively in the Sail Freight field, and earned a Sustainable Innovations MBA at the University of Vermont in 2025 to learn the art of making sustainable transportation projects a going concern.

Our Story

The Center for Post Carbon Logistics (CPCL) was born as a project proposal for a Good Work Institute fellowship that was based around Andrew Willner’s career as shipwright, sailing vessel captain, short sea shipping consultant, and New York Baykeeper. In part because of so much positive response, the fellowship inspired the formation of the organization.

Advisory Committee

The members advise the Executive Director in implementing the Center’s ambitious agenda and will provide expertise to determine what among the many actions should take priority.

The Advisers will provide guidance about potential partners, funding, including but not limited to introductions to potential donors and program personnel at charitable foundations as well as government officials in the climate and transportation sector.
